Coursework fiction Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Coursework fiction - Essay Example but to my surprise the article stated at the end that both of his parents died since he was two years old and after which his grandparents took care of him. I was very sad and badly bothered by that fact. My own beloved father died three years ago. What if my mom will leave me too? It was a frightening moment then. It was my first day in high school. I was enrolled in a Catholic institution. My mind was just centered on the idea that I have to be the top of our class. I didn’t mind about my physical appearance for unknown reasons. Some said I look weird but I did not care. My motto was, â€Å"Do your own business and I will do mine as long as you will not step on my inherent rights.† Surprisingly, things did not happen as I planned it to be. While I was eating in the school canteen, somebody sat beside me and asked if I could move a little. I knew she was a girl by the tone of her voice. When I saw her face, I couldn’t help but stare at her. She was very cute and pretty. The girl said, â€Å"Hello? Have you seen a ghost or something? Could you move a little please?† It was love at first sight in the very first day of school. From that moment, I was already conscious on my appearance. It was the first day then that I became interested with girls and discovered the life of a normal teenager in the land of United Kingdom. During that period, I realized how hard it was for the amputated boy to go to school. When I got home, my mom was surprised when I asked her to accompany me for shopping and grooming. I think she was curious enough to know that I liked someone in school. She suddenly asked me about my first day. The usual nod was replaced with a naughty answer, â€Å"Oh! It was great! Everyone seemed nice, friendly and accommodating. In other words, I like the school and the students.† My mom responded, â€Å"That’s good! I hope you made a good impression.† Then I replied, â€Å"Of course mom.† I was enlightened by that statement from my dearest mother.

Humanities Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Humanities - Assignment Example Despite the strong image factor, the West still makes and sells this kind of music successfully across the globe. Thus, music is a Western construct because the West â€Å"makes† music according to its own definitions and classifications of it. Music and/or dance can do things that are different from visual art by using properties that the latter does not contain and by involving couple, group, or community performance. Barnett (2012) provided five propositions of what music is, which does not only set it apart from other forms of noise, but from visual art as well. Music is organized sound, which is different from the organized hues of visual art (Barnett, 2012, p.7). The audience consumes music through their ears, and sometimes through their ears and eyes, while visual art is entirely for the eyes. Moreover, dance is a performance that sometimes requires two or more people participating in its production. The social aspect of its production sets it apart from visual art that can be very single-artist-driven in construction. Dance can also serve several social functions. Dance and its accompanying music act as a â€Å"lens† through which people can find social celebration and community solidarity (Barnett, 2012, p. 23). Dance can refer to rituals and other dances that serve diverse individual and social functions. Individually, people can dance to express themselves or to heal or curse others. Dance and music are common staples in social events too, such as weddings, birthdays, and funerals. Thus, dance and music operate at a different level than visual arts and can also be very social in its production and outcomes. Tango is an important music and dance in Argentina culture, precisely because it originated from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The urban poor developed tango during the 1890s and because of the socioeconomic conditions of its makers, tango was danced more frequently in brothels during this time (Morales, 2003,

Apprencitship Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Apprencitship - Assignment Example VET is the Vocational Education and Training Network of Australia which would be primarily focused in this report since it the network that is directly concerned with the object at hand. Many researchers have previously tried to handle this subject but lack of data has withheld the reports from being comprehensive and educational, they have rather come off as reports which are unrealistic on the part of the researcher while he tries to put into writing the things which he believes are important and will need to be changed, rather than trying to gauge from the learner’s point of view as to what are the problems which befall a learner and what the learner wants to be changed. This is an important approach since in this equation; the learner is of primary importance (McDonald, Geoff, Gonczi, Hager, 1992). The aspects which have come forward in the CLARA report are that there are some basic things which need to be given importance to in the case of a good apprenticeship for a new learner. These basic things are the management, the professionalism of the teachers, and the teacher’s attention to the academic records of the student and the student’s strengths and weaknesses. ... Since the basic aim of VET is to provide quality learning, it needs to be believed that VET would provide quality learning in all of the aspects ranging from the start to the end, but is that true? (Vallence, Falk and Kilpatrick, 2001). While VET performs admirably in the areas which are developed, it has been acknowledged that there are difficulties in providing the same kind of support and quality to the areas that are lesser developed because of two primary reasons, the distance and the relatively lesser demand (TDA, 2001). There are three basic things that influence the vocational training in these areas: The education and qualifications of the teachers. Literacy and numeracy. The kind of packages being offered. When the quality of anything is being judged, it should be noticed that quality is a continuously evolving process thus it cannot be put into a specific mould at any time. But quality of vocational learning can be documented in the terms that the quality would be as high or as low as the learner’s satisfaction (Vallence, 2001). The first of the three points that were initially mentioned to be basic contributing factors were the education and qualification of the teachers. The teacher and student relationship is the most basic thing that makes a vocational learning program good or not. The teachers are graded on some basic things like the minimum education of the teachers, the commitment of theirs to the program and the pledge to uphold the quality assured by the VET (Vallence, Falk and Kilpatrick, 2001). The basic problem with trainers and teacher in the rural areas is that the program organizers cannot bargain with them. Since they are being sent to far off

Pesticide Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Pesticide - Research Paper Example The term pest includes insects, weeds, mammals, and microbes, among others† (Tadeo 2). They are categorized based on the pest that they destroy. For example, herbicides kill eradicate weeds and other plants growing in places where they are unwanted, insecticides destroy insects and other anthropods and fungicides are used to kill fungi (Atterholt). Other types of pesticides are acaricides, molluscicides, nematicides, pheromones, plant growth regulators, repellants, and rodenticides (Tadeo 2). Pesticides are usually chemical substances, although they can be sometimes biological agents such as virus or bacteria. â€Å"They may be derived from natural sources such as pyrethrin insecticide extracted from certain chrysanthemum plants. Another example is azadirachtin, an extract from the neem tree† (â€Å" natural and synthetic†). Pesticides are also made from artificial (synthetic) sources such as pyrethriods, which is an insecticide. Herbicides can be further classified as soil- or foliage-applied compounds which are normally absorbed by roots or leaf tissues, respectively. These compounds can be total or selective herbicides. Total herbicides can kill all vegetation, whereas selective herbicides can control weeds without affecting the crop (Tadeo 4). Insecticide Pyrethrum, the dried flower of Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium, or its solvent extract, has been used for centuries in order to kill insects. The plant, is originally native to the Near East (Adriska 24). The active substances of pyrethrum are pyrethrin I , pyrethrin II, Cinerin I, cinerin II, the 3-but-2-enyl analogues, as well as jasmolin I and jasmolin II, the 3-pentyl-2-enyl analogues of the pyrethrins. When an insect is intoxicated with pyrethroids, it quickly develops hyperexcitation and tremors, which are followed by paralysis. These symptoms of poisoning imply that pyrethriods act primarily on the neuromuscular system (Narahashi 337). The highly lipophilic nature of the synthetic pyrethoids

Business Information Systems Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words - 2

Business Information Systems - Essay Example One such factor that is very essential for success of any business, especially in present era of huge competition, is processing and dissemination of information in and out of the organisation. Nowadays, accurate and rapid management of information has become an essential and imperative task for business organisations since besides product quality, it has been an observation that service delivery now plays an important role in deciding future orders, and for this reason, a company can make or lose business just by focusing on its information management and systems. Although management of information was essential in the past as well; however, volume of such information was not so huge that it needed systems and thus, humans were performing the task efficiently (Martin, 1973, pp. 255-257). However, nowadays, due to huge number of customers, suppliers, vendors, etc, the need of business information systems has become inevitable, especially for companies that are dealing with suppliers and customers on national and international levels. One such company under consideration in this paper is Bognor Marine Watercraft (BMW) Company. In the last few years, BMW Company has witnessed an amazing progress in its business of watercraft and ancillaries that was limited to the UK market. Now, the decision-makers are now thinking about expanding the business due to increase in demand from the customers, especially for specialised high-end luxury watercrafts that has been the reason of their presence in the media lately. As the result, the notion of a ‘global village’ (Avgerou, 2003, pp. 97-99) is becoming a reality for the owners of BMW Company who now wants to become a market leader in their particular industry, not only in the UK market but internationally as well. Although the company was aware of the importance of information technology and therefore, it did invested in different information management systems and databases, however, it is an observation that the company did not give consideration to various aspects that are very essential before setting up of any IT structures and systems (Lan, 2005, pp. 130-134). In this regard, this paper will include understanding of different aspects related to IT systems that will potentially assist BMW Company in making the best use of its IT systems. Business Information Systems It will not be wrong to declare 21st century as the era of science and technology since even in the business market, the flow of information from one source to another has now become a decisive factor of success or failure of a company (Laudon & Laudon, 2007, pp. 101-103). As the result, nowadays, business information systems have taken place of humans and performing their tasks of processing and storing information while holding records and data related to different processes of an organisation. Companies have now installed information systems that are capable of comparing and relating past and present data to provide st atistics that enable owners to take crucial decisions in an efficient manner. Moreover, in bigger organisations such as BMW Company where there are different and various departments, information syste

Personal Leadership plan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Personal Leadership plan - Essay Example Adherence to these internal and external forces that affect the operations of an organization would go a long way in ensuring the organization realizes its goals, vision, and mission by sticking to the laid down policies and strategies (Carter et al., 2012). This paper explores the importance of developing a personal leadership plan. Importance of Personal Leadership Plans There are several reasons for which leaders should develop their leadership plans. First, although one may know everything about him/herself, such knowledge would be futile unless it is written down in a well-organized form that is beneficial to the user. Such documentation of knowledge is particularly important in enabling one to focus thoughts, resources, and energy on the leadership right qualities. Further, a leadership plan allows one to organize his/her present, past, and future in a connected manner by allowing the exploration of personal interests, values, beliefs, needs, and experiences, which are then ali gned and applied in leadership to help in the realization of an organizations vision, mission, and objectives (Carter et al., 2012). By judging and understanding these values, beliefs, and experiences, one is better placed to appreciate current status and forecast future professional life. In essence, all the work involved in preparing a leadership plan enables an individual to develop the useful practices of introspection, the habit of looking inward for guidance (Kahn, 1991). The two main effects of leadership plan on an individual is the inculcation of the sense of self-direction and self-awareness, two of the essential factors in effective leadership. The inclusion of a personal mission statement in a leadership plan is one technique by which leaders are guided to their personal life and professional future. Personal mission statements also assist people in decision making processes and in the building of confidence in one’s decisions and abilities. All an individual requ ires is a well thought-out purpose for life, which is a rather strong foundation for personal as well as career life. Personal leadership plans are also useful when one is considering performance review, promotion, or change in career direction. During such time, it is vital that all the outstanding leadership qualities, which could be influential in an individual’s vision of effective leadership, should be evaluated so that the right choices are made. Even as personal leadership planning is important and people are encouraged to generate ideas for personal as well as career growth and development, it is advised that people need to limit the expanse and the size of aspirations and the timeframe within which objectives are to be realized (Robbins et al., 2008). In other words, the leadership goals outlined in a leadership plan should not only fit in the set time but should also be realistic and achievable. Leadership plans must also indicate the mechanisms by which professiona l and personal goals are to be realized in addition to setting the right timeframe. To achieve great results in leadership effectiveness, it is important that one becomes passionate and compelled to constantly
